A new retail concept for Coco and Lola Fashion Boutique, intended to reflect the already established brands’ look and feel with a fresh perspective. We sought to emulate a sense of feminine strength - a ‘candied’ sweetness with a grittier undertone. Materials played a big part - as both a textural backdrop and as significant 'insertions'. Our intent was to maximise, soften and highlight the industrial shell of the building - utilising the scale of the exposed soffit while imbuing the space with the brand’s ‘pink-ness’, punctuated with joinery elements as well as full height curtains.

Coco & Lola, Manly

Light filled and casual, a softening of the existing building shell that is rooted in context and considers varied shopper experiences with minimal intervention.

It was important to connect to the coastal locale. Blocks of Sydney sandstone for racking and display bases, marine grade stainless steel racking, and pink sand as a base to the shop front display ensuring mannequins with perpetually sandy feet.

The primary built ‘insertion’ within the space is the ‘entry wave’ structure, which creates a dramatic quality whilst having many functions. It designates an entry moment for pause, houses the point of sale/entry display, provides visibility of the entry/exit, and effectively separates customers making purchases and circulating.
